Dear Laney Classified,
As we near the home stretch of another academic year, I would like to take a moment to share some accomplishments and look forward to upcoming events.
What we’ve done so far:
2009 Classified Professional Development Day
Held on October 20, 2009, this event featured guest speakers from the statewide classified senate (California Community College Classified Senates, 4CS), career development workshops, and governance/leadership workshops
Fiscal Management Update
Tom Henry from the Education Management and Assistance Corporation updated classified staff on the progress of the ongoing fiscal review at the district offices. The classified senate will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates
Educational Master Planning Process
The classified senate continues to work to ensure that the needs of classified staff are represented in the Educational Master Plan. Because future requests for personnel, facilities and funding will all be tied to this document, it is critical that we are involved in the committees and working groups that make up the EMP process.

Classified Appreciation Day, May 19th, 2010 11:30am – 2:00pm, Laney Bistro
I am happy to announce that this year’s event will be a true celebration of the contribution classified staff make to the success of Laney College. Join us at the Laney Bistro on May 19th as we bring this academic year to a close.

Now is a great time to get involved in the classified senate, by joining the executive committee, attending a meeting or volunteering at an event. We are only as strong as we choose to be, so get involved!
