Community Change Studies Program
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS THROUGH AUGUST 5TH, 2013
The Community Change Studies Program at Laney College is based on a nationally recognized program that combines classroom and on-the-job training to prepare students for careers in community change and development. As a participant, you will develop the skills necessary to be an effective advocate, activist and change agent in Oakland.
Our program is committed to fostering the leadership and employment of local residents who want to create social and economic change in their communities. All participants accepted into this one-year program will receive a paid internship experience and college credit; all courses in this program qualify as credits in the UC and Cal State systems.
This is a one-year program that begins in Fall 2013 and ends in Summer 2014. Participants will complete 6 units of course work per semester as a group, and finish the program with a paid internship at a local public or private agency. Community Change Studies graduates will have strong backgrounds for careers in nonprofits, public policy, union organizing, and systems level work, as well as for academic study at four-year institutions.
