Laney Showcase Day to Attract 1,000

Laney College will be hosting its first Open House & Showcase Day on Wednesday, April 29, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. It will feature events and activities designed to inform attendees about the broad educational programs at Laney College. We are planning exhibits, displays, music, food and fun. It promises to be an informative and entertaining day. And, we’re expecting more than 2,000 community participants, in addition to our students!

Part of Oakland since 1948, Laney College is more relevant to our community today than at any time in its illustrious history. In this budget-minded environment, many college-bound high school graduates are electing to attend 2-year colleges. Unemployed and unemployed residents are returning to community colleges for retraining.

Many of our business/community partners — including the U.S. Census Bureau, East Bay Municipal Utility District and Pacific Gas & Electric — have signed up as event sponsors. Additionally, the City of Oakland, Alameda County, Port of Oakland and others are encouraging their employees to take the time to attend Laney Showcase Day.
