John Polos Home
My name is John Polos and I am a part time Biology Instructor at Laney College. I have taught at Laney since 2007 and I am very proud to be part of the very dedicated and organized Biology department there. The classes I teach are Basic Human Anatomy and Physiology (Bio 24) and Human Nutrition (Bio 28). I also currently teach Human Anatomy at another district and in the past I have taught laboratory courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Animal Physiology and Animal biology at Cal State University East Bay.
I received my M.S. in Biological Sciences at CSU East Bay where I focused on vertebrate physiolgoy (including environmental, neural, and patho physiology). For my masters thesis, I studied the use of abdominal muscles during breathing cycles of cane toads during stressful conditions. I also did research work studying lymph movement in bull frogs. I obtained my BS in biology from St. Mary’s College.
I have been a class room teacher for over 10 years. Before I came to Laney I taught ESL at the College of Alameda. Prior to that, I taught Biology, Chemistry at St. Mary’s high school.
