Jay Lehmann is conductor and artistic director of the Berkeley Youth Orchestra, and directs the Laney Summer Music Program. Mr. Lehmann has conducted award winning bands and ensembles, teaches all levels of theory courses, and is an adjunct professor at the Berkeley Jazz School. He is a recipient of a Golden Bell Award for Outstanding Teaching in the State of California as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award from the PTA, Lehmann was selected as the 1999 Laney College Teacher of the Year. He received a Bachelors Degree and Lifetime Teaching Credential from the University of California, Davis, and a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance from California State University at Hayward.
