Jennifer Shaw Navarrete received a BA in music from UC Davis, an MA in education from Stanford University, and an MA in music from CSU Hayward. She studied piano with Raymond Francis Foote, Patricia Taylor Lee, Naomi Sparrow, and Ellen Wassermann. She was director of the Oakland Children’s Chorus for five years, manager of the Oakland Symphony Chorus for three years, and co-director of the Holy Names High School Fine Arts Day Camp for four summers. She taught high school choral music and piano for fourteen years, has been a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Chamber Choir since 1984, and has been active as an accompanist throughout her career. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Music Teachers Association of California, Alameda County Branch. She taught class piano at CSU Hayward for twelve years; and, since 1992, she has taught piano and sight-singing at Laney College and piano in her studio at home in Oakland.
