LEARN TO SIGHT-SING! Music 2C: Sight-Singing Instrumentalists and vocalists alike will benefit from learning to sing melodies at sight. In this course you will practice the skills of solfege (the “do re mi” system) and rhythm reading in many kinds of music examples and exercises. Sight-singing is not only a valuable practical skill, it also gives you an exciting new perspective on music. You will be able to look at a piece of music and have an idea of what it sounds like before you play or sing it! Required for music majors and recommended for non-music majors who have some background in reading music. Please note: This course does not teach vocal technique, nor are students evaluated on the basis of vocal technique. |
