Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society – Alpha Chi Chapter

Laney College hosts the Alpha Chi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa national two-year college honor society.  Students with a 3.5 GPA or higher are eligible to apply for membership in Phi Theta Kappa.  Members have access to online tools to build their skills and leadership and are eligible to serve as officers at the chapter, national, and international level.  Phi Theta Kappa membership challenges students to actively engage in service learning opportunities and become leaders in their community.

 


Becoming a Member of Phi Theta Kappa

Follow these steps to become a member of the Alpha Chi Theta Chapter

  1. Achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  2. Click on the link below, print out and complete the application for membership.

  3. Print out and attach a copy of your unofficial transcript to your application.
  4. Pay your membership fee at the Laney cashier’s office and attach your receipt to your application.
  5. Bring your completed application, unofficial transcript, and receipt of payment to the Orientation. You have to RSVP here http://tinyurl.com/PTK-Fall-2012-orientation in order to reserve your spot for the Orientation.
  6. Attend the PTK Induction Ceremony to be sworn in.

Phi Theta Kappa Orientation and Induction Ceremony

Laney will have two Orientation Sessions for the Fall 2012 Semseter both held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in the Laney Bistro located on the first floor of the E Building facing the estuary. The first one from 4:00pm to 5:00 pm, and  the second Orientation Session from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

The Laney Fall 2012 Induction Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, in the Laney Bistro, located on the first floor of the E Building, facing the estuary.  (Please note: inductees are to arrive promptly at 4 for sign in: family members and guests should plan to arrive between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.  The ceremony will begin at 5:00pm.)
