Sociology is the systematic study of human societies. It focuses on social organization, human interaction, intitutions and culture. Sociology is built on the premise that understanding how societies function is a necessary prerequisite for creating social change. At Laney College, students learn how to use a Sociological Perspective to analyze many topics including group relations, inequality, contemporary social issues, as well as considering posibilities for creating deeper social justice.
